Goals/Objectives

The goal of the NC Comprehensive Cancer Program is to develop and implement effective strategies to prevent, detect and control cancer and to promote activities, which enhance comprehensive cancer initiatives. Comprehensive cancer control is a collaborative process through which a community pools resources to reduce the burden of cancer by working to reduce cancer risk, detect cancers earlier, improve treatment, and enhance quality of life for survivors.
Primary Activities include the following:

· Provision of professional and public education to improve prevention, detection and     control of cancer.

· Collaboration with communities to foster cancer control through state and regional advisory councils, coalitions and committees.

· Promotion of partnerships and collaboration with agencies, health facilities and educational institutions to actively work toward the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Cancer Plan.
